carbon fiber structrual strengthening
Since the calculation principles, formulas, and limiting conditions for the reinforcement of bonded steel plate and bonded carbon fiber are the same, after determining that the component can be reinforced with bonded steel plate and bonded carbon fiber, how to quickly determine whether to use bonded steel plate or bonded carbon fiber? Horse construction revealed the answer for everyone.
(1) Structural deformation
The elastic modulus of both the carbon fiber and the steel plate is basically the same, but the tensile strength of the carbon fiber cloth is 8 times that of the steel plate. Therefore, when the building structure is deformed greatly, it is recommended to adopt the carbon fiber structrual strengthening method. If the deformation capacity is small and the bearing capacity of building components differs greatly, in order to reduce the stress hysteresis and ensure the full performance of the material, priority is given to the use of bonded steel plate reinforcement.
(2) Strengthening requirements
In the case of the same reinforcement requirements, the cross-section required for bonding steel plate reinforcement is relatively large, which obviously improves the structural rigidity. If the bending resistance of the two is the same, the deflection and crack width of the bonded steel reinforcement are smaller than that of the bonded carbon fiber.
(3) Impact of reinforcement environment
If the structure is in a wet, corroded and reinforced environment, it is recommended to use carbon fiber structrual strengthening, because the carbon fiber cloth has far better corrosion resistance than steel.
