Due to its extremely high strength and light weight, carbon fiber enjoys the reputation of "black gold" in the field of building reinforcement. Recently, a new round of municipal bridge maintenance and repair work has been carried out to focus on the diseases of 31 bridges in the jurisdiction. At the same time, the use of carbon fiber sheet reinforcement technology has overcome the diseases of road and bridge slabs, and coated this nearly 40 year old bridge with "black gold".
It is understood that the road bridge was built in the 1980s, with a bridge age of nearly 40 years. Over time, the traffic flow on urban roads continued to rise, causing varying degrees of damage to the beams and slabs of the bridge. In order to ensure the safe operation and use of the bridge, and to nip hidden dangers in the "cradle", the municipal company has recently started strengthening the beams and slabs of the bridge.
The relevant person in charge of the municipal company introduced that pasting carbon fiber sheet can improve the bearing capacity of bridges, and is currently a widely used method for bridge maintenance and repair. The reinforcement work for the road and bridge this time adopts the carbon fiber sheet reinforcement process. After the reinforcement of the carbon fiber sheet, it is like coating the old bridge with a 'black gold' protective layer, which not only greatly improves the strength of the bridge, but also further enhances its bearing capacity
In addition to using carbon fiber sheet to reinforce the road and bridge, a centralized maintenance was carried out on 30 other bridges, including beam and slab reinforcement, crack repair, water seepage area disease repair, support rust removal, and anti-corrosion coating.
Based on the different detection data, quality status, and technical performance of each bridge, we aim to solve bridge safety hazards and adopt a 'one bridge, one policy' approach to carry out maintenance work one by one, striving to comprehensively eliminate bridge diseases and accumulate valuable experience for future maintenance. As of now, they have completed 90% of the bridge maintenance tasks in this centralized maintenance operation, with a total of 4123 meters of crack repair, 2368 square meters of beam, slab, and column repair, and 34 repair of bearing defects. They have promptly dealt with adverse factors affecting bridge safety, providing strong guarantees for the safe operation of urban bridges.
